Serviced apartments, which may also be referred to as aparthotels or extended stay hotels, are furnished apartments that can be rented on a nightly basis or for longer periods. They generally include a kitchen or kitchenette, a living space, a sleeping area, a full bathroom, and may include housekeeping and laundry machines.
Serviced apartments are commonly used by people traveling for business or by tourists looking for more of a complete environment than a standard hotel room and bathroom. Extended stays are growing in popularity with digital nomads and people looking for a community feel when they’re away from home.
A PMS is used to manage the operations of a serviced apartment property. Given that guests often book a longer length of stay than in a traditional hotel, the PMS used by extended stay hotels should make it just as easy for a guest to book for a few months as for a few nights, and the management of the longer stays should be simple as well.
Additionally, given the interest in this segment of travelers to be able to work from the location where they’re staying, the property should be able to sell co-working spaces by the hour or the day or even monthly memberships for different spaces around the property.
The PMS should also be flexible enough to make it integration of third-party applications seamless to connect apps for housekeeping management, guest services and smart technology.
With Mews Spaces, guests can book their accommodation for months as easily as they would reserve a few nights.
As a cloud-native platform, Mews is fast, integrated and secure. On top of that, our intuitive interface makes learning Mews so easy that anyone can get comfortable with it in a few days – even new staff who have no hospitality experience. We also provide digital solutions like a self-service kiosk for check-in and out, online check-in and out, and direct chat to save staff hours every week and easily manage the check-in and check-out for large groups.
Aparthotels often have diverse room types and amenities. Mews allows you to easily enter different room types and rate manage them all separately to help you maximize revenue.
Many property management systems that market to aparthotels are described as cloud-based. Often, though, these are cloud adaptations of traditional, on-premises (server-based) systems. A cloud-native property management system, like Mews, is built from the start as a cloud technology. This distinction is crucial because it ensures that users can the full power of the platform and benefit from enhanced speed and security.
Some similar examples of extended-stay apartments that can manage their operations and guest experience with Mews include student accommodations, retirement homes and hybrid properties that offer long- and short-stay bookings as a way to diversify revenue and manage through seasonal highs and lows.
“We have customized a perfectly adapted tech stack to our operations which allows us to automate repetitive tasks, optimize and streamline our daily operations, and respond effectively to the needs of our employees and our travelers. Mews is at the heart of our tech stack, the central point of all of our technological tools.”
