Front desk savings

Mews Payments automates front desk staff’s repetitive and time-consuming daily tasks such as processing payments.

Cost savings are based on your occupancy, hourly front desk labor costs and the amount of transactions that front desk staff would typically process in an hour.

Back office savings

Mews Payments enables you to eliminate the daily payment reconciliation tasks undertaken by your back office staff so they can focus their efforts on other areas of the business.

Back office cost savings are calculated by considering your hourly labor cost and number of properties.

No-show costs

These savings are calculated using your occupancy and average daily rate.

You can automatically charge customers if they don’t show up, in line with your no-show policy.

How do you calculate Mews Payments fees?

Mews Payments fees are calculated using Blended and Interchange++ models depending on the payment type. You can learn more about both models below.

Blended fees

Blended fees apply one flat fee regardless of payment type, input method, location of card issuer, or any other common variables. This fee is negotiated upfront and is typically used for American Express, Diners Club, Discover, JCB and UnionPay.

Interchange ++

This model is applied when using Visa or Mastercard payment methods. Interchange ++ fees are a combination of the following charges:

Interchange and scheme fees: These fees are taken by the banks and card networks – they are not controlled by Mews.
Mews commission: This fee allows us to continue to provide you with secure, innovative and time-saving payment processing.
Tokenization fee: Finally, a one-time card protection and tokenization fee is charged for every card tokenized and stored in Mews. The process ensures you’re PCI-compliant and your guests’ payment details are safely encrypted. This is an additional fee and not included in either the Blended or Interchange ++ model.
