About THE GRAND Ahrenshoop
THE GRAND Ahrenshoop is one of two properties operated by The Grand Hotel Management GmbH. The hotel is located on the north coast of Germany on the enchanting Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula and offers its guests incomparable views of the Baltic Sea.
The hotel promises its visitors a lasting and relaxing experience. In addition to an exclusive spa area with pool and sauna, there’s a wide range of wellness activities such as yoga, Ayurveda and SUP courses. The hotel pampers its guests with three different restaurants, which offer an outdoor kitchen and a lounge. One of the main reasons for the move to Mews in 2021 was to utilize cloud connectivity with multi-property functionality.

An integrated Spa management solution
Challenge
THE GRAND Ahrenshoop is a wellness hotel with a busy spa that’s central to the guest experience – and the team needed to ensure that the spa could be easily connected to their PMS.
Solution
Mews Marketplace offers a range of specialized facility integrations, including spa management. THE GRAND Ahrenshoop team uses the ChiDesk solution, with spa scheduling and staff management. The Lightspeed POS system is also used for point of sale. Crucially, there is a direct link with Mews Operations for guest room payments.

An effective app-based housekeeping solution
Challenge
Traditional housekeeping processes are inefficient and lead to unnecessary waste of resources. Printed checklists create additional paper waste and require manual effort to transfer information into the system.
Solution
The Hotelkit integration provides an integrated housekeeping tool. This is automatically updated in Mews Operations, meaning reception has accurate, up-to-date information on which rooms are ready to receive new guests.
Housekeeping uses the Mews app (on Android and iOS) to quickly check for problems or whether rooms are currently occupied without having to ask reception. In the sister hotel, STRANDHAUS Ahrenshoop, only the Mews app is used, which means that reception also receives accurate and up-to-date data.

THE GRAND Ahrenshoop currently uses eight integrations, from a custom booking engine to an accounting solution.
hotelkit
hotelkit is a housekeeping solution with a direct, bi-directional connection to Mews. Once a room has been cleaned and the status has been updated in hotelkit, this is reflected in Mews Operations, meaning no calls need to be made to reception.
Messerschmitt
Messerschmitt provides integrated door lock solutions for the hotel. The team can send key cutting commands directly from Mews to the encoder for specific bookings, including cutting the correct number of keys for the guests on the booking and sending requests for an entire group booking.
