About Hotel Cadenberge

Hotel Cadenberge is one of four Mews-powered properties in havenhostel Deutschland group operating across northern Germany. It offers 18 rooms, a bowling and skittles alley, three event venues for up to 200 guests and a "bistrorante" serving both modern and traditional German dishes. After seeing the success of their sister properties with Mews, the hotel switched from HS3, a server-based PMS, to a cloud-native solution, bringing all operations under one system.   As part of the havenhostel Deutschland group’s journey toward modernization, Mews has become an integral tool in achieving greater flexibility by streamlining operations.

An effortless switch to a cloud-based system

Challenge

Hotel Cadenberge recognized an opportunity to enhance flexibility and streamline operations, moving beyond the constraints of their previous server-based solution.

Solution

The transition to a cloud-based system posed minimal challenges, thanks to a dedicated onboarding manager who guided Hotel Cadenberge through each question and concern. Regular calls allowed for open points to be clarified and follow-ups to be addressed, which helped the team feel well-supported throughout. Approximately 200 reservations were transferred over seamlessly, followed by training sessions that tackled common questions, particularly around invoicing and billing. The staff has found Mews to be very intuitive – with no need to juggle countless windows, reception processes are now much faster and simpler.

Solving staff shortages with Mews University

Challenge

Their previous PMS offered limited training resources, so new hires without prior experience often struggled to get up to speed quickly.

Solution

Mews University not only ensures fast and effective staff onboarding but also helps Hotel Cadenberge address the skilled labor shortage. With online courses available with German subtitles, new and experienced employees could train remotely before starting work. Mews University’s simple structure and single-tab navigation drastically reduced training times, and the ability to track employees' progress gave management valuable oversight. Hotel Cadenberge now finds it much easier to hire staff without prior hospitality experience.

Zero chargebacks with Mews Payments

Challenge

The team wanted to eliminate the need for an external payment provider and make the payment process less clunky.

Solution

With Mews Payments, Hotel Cadenberge saw instant improvements in transaction efficiency. Chargebacks dropped to zero, and guest experience is much smoother. When a guest uses their credit card on-site, the process is seamless: charges are immediately debited, and card information is tokenized and stored securely on the guest profile, allowing them to effortlessly make additional purchases. With tokenization, information is encrypted, so sensitive data is never seen or collected, and an integrated payment terminal provides consistently quick processing.

Integration spotlight

Hotel Cadenberge leverages Mews Marketplace to streamline booking management, with custom adjustments enabled by Mews Open API for added flexibility. This setup enhances the property’s online distribution and boosts connectivity with major OTAs. 

Booking.com

This integration allows Hotel Cadenberge to receive Booking.com reservations and manage inventory directly in Mews. The connection allows them to manage rates and restrictions easily. As a bonus, when a new property is onboarded, all future Booking.com reservations will be downloaded automatically.
